The dynamics of proteins and small peptides govern many processes that are essential for life. Single molecule methods give the opportunity to follow peptide and protein dynamics and protein folding, one molecule at a time. Hence, intermediate and rare transition states can be observed that would be averaged out in ensemble measurements. We will apply our expertise in single molecule and ultrasenstive fluorescent methodologies to further develop measurements for investigating dynamics and apply them to the study of dynamics in peptides, proteins, and cells.
